Challenge topic: You're alone. You hear your name whispered. Who is it and what do they want to tell you?
Rating: PG-13
He heard her say his name and it was a mere whisper. Something told him that she’d find him eventually, she always did. No matter how far and how fast he ran she always found him.
“Why are you doing this, Ben?”
“You know why, Maxie.”
She knew exactly why he’d killed those men. Knew exactly why he’d tattooed his barcode on the backs of their necks. Why he gave them some kind of weapon whether it be blade or knife and sent them out away from him. They always ran and it amused him. They were the prey and he was the hunter. It never took long for him to find them. Never took long for him to methodically break their body as if it were nothing. After all, he was a genetically enhanced super soldier. But one thing stood out about what he did… their teeth. He always took their teeth. Why? So he could give them to the Blue Lady and make her heart stronger.
It was Max’s voice he heard behind him though as he stood in the cathedral and laid the wrapped teeth by the Blue Lady’s feet. His little sister, X5-452… sweet Max. Always trying to make things right. But they couldn’t be made right this time. He wouldn’t allow it.
“Ben, we can talk about this… the mission is over.”
“No, Max, it isn’t over. It’s not over until She says it is.”
She was the Blue Lady. The one that protected them. But before Max could say anymore, in a blur he was gone leaving his baby sister standing before the figure of the Blue Lady, herself.
